HOW AN ENCOUNTER BECAME A BOOK

The idea for this book was born not in the Engadin, but in Morissen in Val Lumnezia — over a long breakfast and a conversation between Sandra De Vito and Jon Erni.

What began as a spontaneous exchange first developed into a third-place partnership between Bratschi and miaEngiadina. Soon, another idea emerged: to create something lasting to mark miaEngiadina’s tenth anniversary. A tribute and a thank-you to all the people who have shaped the initiative with their ideas, commitment, and courage.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE TRANSFORMATION

At the heart of the book are not abstract concepts, but the people who have shaped miaEngiadina over the past ten years.

In 2025, Sandra De Vito and photographer Frank Schwarzbach travelled to the Engadin again and again. They met the portrayed personalities in the places where they live and work, held conversations, walked together, and shared meals. The result is a collection of personal interviews, authentic photographs, and insights into very different worlds of life and work. The book tells a story of pioneering spirit, community, and the question of how an alpine region can continue to evolve without losing its identity.

A MANY-VOICED PORTRAIT OF THE ENGADIN

«Grazcha fich – 10 Years of miaEngiadina» Grazcha fich – brings together texts, interviews, photography, and design to create a many-voiced portrait of a region in transformation.

It portrays people who enable new ways of working, build digital infrastructure, foster innovation, and create spaces for encounter, exchange, and collaboration. At the same time, it tells of a deep connection to the Engadin and of a shared vision to further develop the region as a place to work, live, and draw inspiration.
